About

Bdenza 160mg Tablet is an androgen receptor inhibitor, primarily indicated for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). It works by targeting multiple steps in the androgen receptor signaling pathway, which is crucial for the growth and survival of prostate cancer cells. Bdenza inhibits androgen binding to the androgen receptor, prevents androgen receptor nuclear translocation, and impairs DNA binding and transcription of androgen-responsive genes. This comprehensive blockade of androgen receptor signaling leads to a significant reduction in prostate cancer cell proliferation and induces apoptosis, thereby slowing disease progression.

The medication is administered orally and is extensively metabolized, primarily by CYP2C8 and CYP3A4, with subsequent excretion through both urine and feces. Due to its potent anti-androgenic effects, careful monitoring for potential adverse events, including seizures and cardiovascular issues, is essential. Patients should be educated on the importance of adherence to the prescribed regimen and reporting any new or worsening symptoms to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes and manage safety concerns effectively.

Safety Measures

  • Alcohol - Alcohol consumption should be limited or avoided during Bdenza treatment, as it may exacerbate central nervous system side effects like dizziness or fatigue, and potentially interact with drug metabolism.
  • Pregnancy - Bdenza is not indicated for use in women. It can cause fetal harm. Male patients with female partners of reproductive potential should use effective contraception during treatment and for 3 months after the last dose.
  • Breastfeeding - Bdenza is not indicated for use in women. It is unknown if it is excreted in human milk.
  • Liver - Patients with severe hepatic impairment may require dose adjustments for Bdenza, as it is extensively metabolized in the liver. Close monitoring of liver function is recommended.
  • Kidney - No dose adjustment is typically required for mild to moderate renal impairment. However, caution is advised in severe renal impairment, and monitoring for adverse effects is important.
  • Lung - While not directly affecting lung function, patients should be monitored for any new or worsening respiratory symptoms, as general adverse events can sometimes manifest broadly. No specific lung contraindication.
