About

Gcpeg 6mg Injection contains pegfilgrastim, a pegylated form of recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). It works by stimulating the production, maturation, and release of neutrophils from the bone marrow. Neutrophils are a type of white blood cell crucial for fighting infections, forming a key part of the body's innate immune response. By increasing neutrophil counts, pegfilgrastim helps to reduce the incidence and duration of febrile neutropenia, a common and serious complication of myelosuppressive chemotherapy. The pegylation process extends the half-life of filgrastim, allowing for a single dose per chemotherapy cycle, which significantly improves patient convenience and adherence compared to daily G-CSF injections. This prophylactic measure is vital in maintaining chemotherapy dose intensity and reducing the risk of life-threatening infections, thereby supporting overall treatment outcomes and enhancing patient safety during cancer therapy.
