About

HHGLIM M2 Tablet is a fixed-dose combination medication used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, containing Glimepiride 2mg and Metformin hydrochloride. Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea that primarily stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells, thereby lowering blood glucose levels. Metformin, a biguanide, acts by reducing hepatic glucose production and improving insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, leading to increased glucose uptake and utilization. The combination of these two agents provides a synergistic effect, addressing different aspects of glucose dysregulation in type 2 diabetes. This dual mechanism helps achieve better glycemic control than either drug alone, particularly in patients whose blood sugar is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with diet and exercise.

Uses

  • Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
  • To improve glycemic control in adults.
  • When diet and exercise, plus monotherapy, are insufficient.
  • To reduce fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels.
