About
Imanib 400mg tablet contains imatinib, an antineoplastic medication classified as a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It is used to treat both adults and children with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), a type of cancer where certain abnormal white blood cells multiply uncontrollably. It is also prescribed for Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph-positive ALL). Additionally, Imanib is effective in managing gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST)—tumors that develop in the digestive tract and may spread to other parts of the body.
This medication is also used to treat various blood disorders, such as myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative diseases (MDS/MPD), hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES), and chronic eosinophilic leukemia (CEL), where specific blood cells grow excessively. It is also indicated for dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP), a rare cancer affecting the tissue under the skin. Imanib works by blocking the growth of abnormal cells.
Do not use Imanib 400mg if you are allergic to imatinib or any of its ingredients. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have any heart, liver, or kidney issues, or if you have thyroid problems or have had your thyroid gland removed. Also, let your doctor know if you currently have or have ever had hepatitis B, as the virus could become active again during treatment.
