About

Lenalidomide is an immunomodulatory drug (IMiD) with anti-angiogenic, anti-neoplastic, and immunomodulatory properties. It is primarily used in the treatment of certain hematological malignancies. Its mechanism involves direct tumoricidal effects, inhibition of angiogenesis, and modulation of the immune system. Specifically, it enhances T-cell and natural killer (NK) cell activity, inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokine production, and induces apoptosis in malignant cells. This multifaceted action makes it effective in managing conditions characterized by abnormal cell proliferation and immune dysregulation. It is often used in combination with other agents to maximize therapeutic efficacy and overcome resistance mechanisms, improving patient outcomes in complex disease settings.
