About

Olmat-20mg Tablet contains Olmesartan Medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used primarily for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). Olmesartan works by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to its receptors in various tissues, including vascular smooth muscle. This action prevents the vasoconstrictive effects of angiotensin II, leading to relaxation and widening of blood vessels, which in turn lowers blood pressure. It also reduces the secretion of aldosterone, further contributing to blood pressure reduction. Olmesartan is effective in providing sustained 24-hour blood pressure control and is often used as a monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents to achieve target blood pressure levels and reduce cardiovascular risk.
