OMEN CT 40/12.5 is a fixed-dose combination medication containing Olmesartan medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and Chlorthalidone, a thiazide-like diuretic. Olmesartan works by blocking the AT1 receptors, preventing the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Chlorthalidone enhances the excretion of sodium and chloride by inhibiting their reabsorption in the cortical diluting segment of the nephron, thereby reducing blood volume and peripheral resistance.

This synergistic combination provides a more potent antihypertensive effect than either component alone, making it particularly effective for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy.
