About
Pempro 100mg Injection contains pemetrexed, an antifolate antineoplastic agent that exerts its cytotoxic effects by disrupting folate-dependent metabolic processes essential for cell replication. It inhibits several key enzymes involved in purine and pyrimidine synthesis, including thymidylate synthase (TS), dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR), and glycinamide ribonucleotide formyltransferase (GARFT). This multi-targeted inhibition leads to the depletion of nucleotide precursors, thereby inhibiting DNA and RNA synthesis and ultimately inducing cell death in rapidly dividing cancer cells. Pemetrexed is commonly used in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and malignant pleural mesothelioma. To mitigate severe toxicities, patients are typically pre-medicated with folic acid and vitamin B12 supplements, and corticosteroids are often administered to reduce skin reactions.
