About
ROSAVE F 5 is a combination medication containing Rosuvastatin (a statin) and Fenofibrate (a fibrate). Rosuvastatin works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, reducing cholesterol synthesis and primarily lowering LDL-C and total cholesterol. Fenofibrate, a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-alpha) agonist, primarily reduces elevated triglyceride levels and increases HDL-C. This combination therapy is prescribed for patients with mixed dyslipidemia, where both high cholesterol (especially high LDL-C) and high triglycerides are present, and who have not achieved adequate lipid control with monotherapy. It aims to comprehensively manage lipid profiles to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. The "5" indicates the Rosuvastatin strength.
