About
SACURISE 50MG, containing sacubitril and valsartan, is an angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) indicated for the treatment of chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). This medication combines a neprilysin inhibitor (sacubitril) with an angiotensin receptor blocker (valsartan) to provide a dual mechanism of action. Sacubitril works by inhibiting neprilysin, an enzyme responsible for the degradation of beneficial natriuretic peptides, thereby increasing their levels. This leads to vasodilation, natriuresis, and diuresis, which are favorable effects in heart failure. Valsartan, on the other hand, blocks the angiotensin II type 1 receptor, counteracting the harmful effects of angiotensin II, such as vasoconstriction, aldosterone secretion, and cardiac remodeling. The synergistic action of these two components helps to significantly reduce cardiovascular mortality and heart failure hospitalizations in eligible patients with HFrEF. The 50mg dose typically refers to the combined strength (e.g., 24mg sacubitril / 26mg valsartan).
