About

Sildenafil is a phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitor primarily used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). In ED, it works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation. It achieves this by inhibiting PDE5, which is responsible for the degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the corpus cavernosum.
