About
Silodal D8mg Cap contains Silodosin, a highly selective alpha-1A adrenergic receptor antagonist primarily used in the management of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). BPH is a common condition in older men characterized by an enlarged prostate gland, which can lead to bothersome lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Silodosin works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the prostate gland and the bladder neck, thereby reducing the obstruction to urine flow from the bladder. This selective action on alpha-1A receptors, which are predominantly found in the prostate, minimizes effects on blood vessels, potentially leading to a lower incidence of orthostatic hypotension compared to less selective alpha-blockers. Its therapeutic goal is to improve urinary flow, reduce urinary frequency, urgency, and nocturia, significantly enhancing the quality of life for men suffering from BPH.
