About
SILOFAST 4 TAB contains Silodosin, an alpha-1A adrenergic receptor antagonist, specifically designed for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). BPH is a common condition in older men where the prostate gland enlarges, leading to various lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Silodosin works by selectively blocking the alpha-1A adrenergic receptors found predominantly in the prostate, bladder neck, and urethra. This action causes the smooth muscles in these areas to relax, thereby reducing the obstruction to urine flow caused by the enlarged prostate.
The relaxation of these muscles helps to alleviate bothersome symptoms such as difficulty starting urination, a weak or interrupted stream, frequent urination (especially at night), and the feeling of incomplete bladder emptying. Silodosin's high selectivity for the alpha-1A receptor is intended to provide effective symptomatic relief with a potentially lower incidence of cardiovascular side effects compared to non-selective alpha-blockers. It offers a rapid onset of action, improving urinary symptoms quickly and enhancing the quality of life for men suffering from BPH.
