About

Talsig 20 contains Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). This medication works by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to its AT1 receptors, which are found in various tissues, including vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland. By blocking these receptors, Telmisartan prevents the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and a reduction in blood pressure. It is primarily used for the treatment of essential hypertension and for cardiovascular risk reduction in high-risk individuals.

Its long duration of action allows for once-daily dosing, providing consistent blood pressure control throughout a 24-hour period. Telmisartan is also noted for its favorable metabolic profile and is often considered for patients with co-existing conditions such as diabetes. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, electrolytes, and kidney function is important during therapy.
