About

TELCADIN-20TAB contains Telmisartan 20mg, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). This medication is primarily used for the treatment of essential hypertension. Telmisartan works by selectively blocking the AT1 receptors, which are responsible for the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II. By blocking these receptors, Telmisartan leads to vasodilation, reduced aldosterone secretion, and decreased sodium and water reabsorption, collectively resulting in a reduction in blood pressure. The 20mg dose is often prescribed as an initial therapy for hypertension or for patients who require a lower dose for effective blood pressure management.

In addition to its role in blood pressure control, Telmisartan also contributes to reducing the risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in high-risk patients. Its long duration of action allows for convenient once-daily dosing, ensuring consistent blood pressure control throughout the day. This medication is generally well-tolerated and provides a foundational treatment option for managing hypertension and its associated cardiovascular risks.
