About

TELMIKIND-LN is a combination medication containing Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and Lercanidipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB). Telmisartan works by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to its receptors in vascular smooth muscle, leading to vasodilation and a reduction in blood pressure. Lercanidipine complements this action by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells, causing peripheral arterial vasodilation and further lowering blood pressure. This dual mechanism of action provides a comprehensive approach to managing essential hypertension, particularly in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with either component.

The synergistic effect of Telmisartan and Lercanidipine helps achieve more effective and sustained blood pressure control, reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and myocardial infarction. The combination is often preferred for its improved efficacy and potentially better tolerability profile compared to higher doses of individual agents. It is a valuable option for patients requiring robust antihypertensive treatment to reach their target blood pressure goals.

Uses

  • Treatment of essential hypertension in adults.
  • Management of high blood pressure when monotherapy is insufficient.
  • To reduce the risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
  • For patients requiring combination therapy for blood pressure control.
