About

Ticaheal 90mg Tablet contains Ticagrelor, a direct-acting, reversibly binding oral antiplatelet agent belonging to the cyclopentyltriazolopyrimidine class. It works by selectively inhibiting the P2Y12 receptor on the platelet surface, thereby preventing adenosine diphosphate (ADP)-mediated platelet activation and aggregation. This mechanism effectively reduces the formation of blood clots, which are a primary cause of serious cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes. Ticagrelor offers a faster onset and offset of action compared to some other antiplatelet agents. It is typically used in conjunction with aspirin as part of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) for patients at high risk of thrombotic events, particularly those with acute coronary syndromes (ACS) or a history of myocardial infarction, to improve cardiovascular outcomes.

Uses

  • Prevention of thrombotic events in acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
  • Reduction of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, and stroke in patients with a history of MI.
  • Prevention of stent thrombosis after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
  • Management of patients with unstable angina.

  • Pregnancy - Ticagrelor is generally not recommended during pregnancy unless the potential benefits clearly outweigh the risks, as human data is limited.
  • Breastfeeding - It is unknown if ticagrelor is excreted in human milk. A decision should be made whether to discontinue breastfeeding or discontinue the drug, considering the importance of the drug to the mother.
  • Liver - Use with caution in patients with moderate hepatic impairment; it is contraindicated in severe hepatic impairment due to increased bleeding risk.
  • Kidney - No dose adjustment is generally required for patients with renal impairment, including those on dialysis.
  • Lung - Use with caution in patients with asthma or COPD, as ticagrelor can cause dyspnea.
