About
VITEL AM 40 10'S is a combination medication containing Valsartan and Amlodipine, prescribed for the treatment of essential hypertension. Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that works by blocking the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB) that relaxes vascular smooth muscle, further contributing to vasodilation and blood pressure reduction. The combination of these two agents provides complementary mechanisms of action, resulting in a more potent antihypertensive effect than either drug alone.
This dual therapy is particularly beneficial for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy, offering comprehensive and sustained blood pressure control and reducing the risk of associated cardiovascular complications.
Uses
- Treatment of essential hypertension.
- Blood pressure control in patients unresponsive to monotherapy.
- Reduction of cardiovascular risk in hypertensive patients.
- Management of high blood pressure with associated angina (due to amlodipine).
