About

Voglikem 0.3 contains voglibose, an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor, used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Voglibose works by reversibly inhibiting alpha-glucosidase enzymes in the small intestine, which are responsible for breaking down complex carbohydrates into absorbable monosaccharides. By slowing down the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, voglibose effectively reduces the postprandial (after-meal) rise in blood glucose levels. This mechanism helps to flatten the glucose curve after meals, thereby improving overall glycemic control. It is particularly useful for patients whose blood glucose levels spike significantly after eating. Voglibose does not stimulate insulin secretion and therefore carries a low risk of hypoglycemia when used as monotherapy. It is often prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise, or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents.
