Vymada is a combination medication containing sacubitril and valsartan, classified as an angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI). Sacubitril inhibits neprilysin, an enzyme responsible for the degradation of natriuretic peptides, leading to increased levels of these beneficial peptides that promote vasodilation, natriuresis, and diuresis. Valsartan, on the other hand, is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that antagonizes the harmful effects of angiotensin II, such as vasoconstriction, aldosterone secretion, and cardiac remodeling. This synergistic dual mechanism helps to reduce cardiovascular stress, improve cardiac function, and alleviate symptoms in patients with chronic heart failure.
