About

Zolasta 4mg contains zoledronic acid, a medication from the bisphosphonate group. It is used in adults to lower elevated calcium levels in the blood caused by tumors—a condition known as tumor-induced hypercalcemia (TIH). Tumors can speed up the normal breakdown of bone, leading to an increased release of calcium into the bloodstream. Zolasta 4mg is also prescribed to help prevent bone-related complications in adults with multiple myeloma or bone metastases from solid tumors, alongside standard cancer treatments.

Additionally, Zolasta 4mg is used to prevent or treat osteoporosis—a condition where bones become weak and brittle—in postmenopausal women and men. It is also indicated for treating Paget’s disease of bone, which causes bones to become soft, weak, and prone to deformity or fractures. The medication can also be used to manage or prevent osteoporosis in individuals taking glucocorticoids, which may contribute to bone loss.

You should not use this injection if you are allergic to zoledronic acid, any other bisphosphonates, or any of its ingredients, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney issues, bone conditions, or symptoms such as jaw pain, swelling, or numbness. This medicine is not suitable for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. While Zolasta 4mg is not a chemotherapy drug and does not stop cancer from spreading, it can be beneficial for managing bone-related conditions in cancer patients.
