About

Abirated 500mg Tablet contains Abiraterone, an androgen biosynthesis inhibitor that specifically targets cytochrome P450 17α-hydroxylase/C17,20-lyase (CYP17). This enzyme is critically involved in the synthesis of androgens in the testes, adrenal glands, and prostate tumor tissue. By inhibiting CYP17, abiraterone significantly reduces the production of androgens, such as testosterone, which are known to fuel the growth of prostate cancer. This reduction in androgen levels helps to slow the progression of the disease. Abiraterone is typically used in combination with prednisone to manage mineralocorticoid excess side effects.

Uses

  • Treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC)
  • Management of metastatic high-risk castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC)
  • Prostate cancer progressing after androgen deprivation therapy
  • Hormone-sensitive prostate cancer
