About
Abiratred 500mg Tablet contains an active ingredient that is a potent and selective inhibitor of CYP17 (17α-hydroxylase/C17,20-lyase), an enzyme expressed in testicular, adrenal, and prostatic tumor tissues that is required for androgen biosynthesis. By inhibiting CYP17, Abiratred significantly reduces the production of androgens, including testosterone, in the testes, adrenal glands, and prostate tumor.
This reduction in androgen levels is critical because prostate cancer growth is often driven by androgens. It is used in combination with prednisone or prednisolone for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), offering a targeted approach to hormone-sensitive malignancies.
