About

DAPAONE M 10/500 is a fixed-dose combination medication for type 2 diabetes, containing dapagliflozin and metformin. Dapagliflozin is a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that reduces glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, leading to increased urinary glucose excretion and lower blood glucose levels. Metformin, a biguanide, works by decreasing hepatic glucose production, reducing intestinal glucose absorption, and improving insulin sensitivity. This synergistic action helps to achieve comprehensive glycemic control.

This medication is indicated for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control when diet and exercise are insufficient. Beyond its glucose-lowering effects, dapagliflozin has demonstrated cardiovascular and renal benefits, making this combination a valuable option for patients who may also have or be at risk for heart failure or chronic kidney disease, in addition to managing their blood sugar.

Uses

  • Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
  • As an adjunct to diet and exercise.
  • To reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization for heart failure in certain patients.
  • To reduce the risk of kidney disease progression in certain patients.
