About
Elromo 75mg Tablet is classified as a thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonist and contains Eltrombopag as its active ingredient. It is used to increase platelet counts in patients with primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) or hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. ITP is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system destroys platelets—cells essential for blood clotting and vessel protection. Low platelet levels can lead to serious bleeding and bruising. Additionally, this medication is prescribed for adults with severe aplastic anaemia, a condition in which the bone marrow fails to produce sufficient new blood cells.
Elromo 75mg should not be taken by individuals who are allergic to Eltrombopag or any of its components, as it may cause allergic reactions ranging from mild skin rashes to severe symptoms like swelling, dizziness, or difficulty breathing. It is contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment or active liver disease, as it can cause liver toxicity, indicated by elevated liver enzymes and bilirubin levels. Using this medication in such cases may worsen liver function, so close monitoring is necessary.
Before starting treatment, your doctor may recommend an eye examination for cataracts, especially if you don’t have regular eye check-ups. Monitoring may also be required for signs of bleeding in or around the retina.
Discontinuing Elromo 75mg may cause your platelet count to drop again within a few days. Therefore, your platelet levels will be regularly monitored, and your doctor will advise you on necessary precautions. A very high platelet count can increase the risk of blood clots, though clots may also occur at normal or low platelet levels. Your doctor will adjust your dose to maintain a safe platelet range.
Avoid consuming dairy products or drinks around the time of taking this tablet, as calcium can interfere with its absorption. Use effective contraception during treatment, and inform your doctor if you become pregnant. This medicine is not recommended for children under one year with ITP, or for those under 18 years of age with low platelet counts due to HCV or severe aplastic anaemia.
Finally, inform your doctor about any other medications, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements, that you are taking or plan to take.
