About

Fludamax 50mg Injection contains Fludarabine, a potent antineoplastic agent belonging to the class of purine analogs. Its mechanism of action involves its conversion into an active metabolite, 2-fluoro-ara-ATP, which then interferes with critical cellular processes. This active metabolite inhibits DNA synthesis by targeting DNA polymerase, ribonucleotide reductase, and DNA primase, enzymes essential for DNA replication and repair. By disrupting these processes, Fludarabine induces DNA damage and ultimately triggers apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells, particularly lymphocytes.

This medication is administered intravenously and is highly effective in treating certain hematological malignancies. Its selective toxicity towards lymphoid cells makes it a valuable therapeutic option for conditions like chronic lymphocytic leukemia and specific types of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, aiming to control disease progression and improve patient outcomes.

Uses

  • Treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)
  • Management of indolent non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
  • Therapy for Waldenström's macroglobulinemia
  • Used in conditioning regimens for stem cell transplantation
