About

GLUCRETA TAB is a combination medication primarily used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It typically combines two active ingredients: Metformin, a biguanide, and Vildagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. Metformin works by decreasing hepatic glucose production, reducing intestinal glucose absorption, and improving insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. Vildagliptin enhances the body's natural ability to control blood glucose levels by increasing the levels of active incretin hormones, GLP-1 and GIP. These hormones stimulate insulin release from the pancreas when blood glucose levels are high and suppress glucagon secretion, thereby reducing glucose production by the liver.

This dual mechanism of action provides comprehensive glycemic control, helping patients achieve target blood sugar levels when diet and exercise alone are insufficient or when monotherapy with Metformin is inadequate. It is an effective option for improving HbA1c and managing hyperglycemia, contributing to better long-term diabetes management and reducing the risk of complications.
