About
Imatero 400mg tablet contains imatinib as its active ingredient. It is an antineoplastic medication that belongs to the tyrosine kinase inhibitor class. This tablet is used to treat adults and children with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), a type of cancer where certain abnormal white blood cells grow uncontrollably. It is also indicated for the treatment of Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph-positive ALL).
Additionally, Imatero 400mg is used to treat specific types of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST)—tumors that develop in the walls of the digestive tract and may spread to other parts of the body. It is also prescribed for myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative diseases (MDS/MPD), which are blood disorders where certain blood cells grow abnormally. Furthermore, it is used in the treatment of hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) and/or chronic eosinophilic leukemia (CEL)—conditions involving the overproduction of eosinophils, a type of white blood cell. The medicine is also effective in managing dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP), a rare cancer of the tissue beneath the skin characterized by abnormal cell growth. Imatero works by inhibiting the growth of these abnormal blood cells.
Avoid taking Imatero 400mg if you are allergic to imatinib or any of its components. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney, or heart conditions, thyroid issues, or if you’ve had your thyroid gland removed. Also, notify your physician if you currently have or have ever had a hepatitis B infection, as this medication can reactivate the virus. Report symptoms such as unexplained bruising, bleeding, fever, fatigue, or confusion during treatment. Be aware that this medication may also affect fertility.
