About

Immutil S 360 Tablet is a crucial immunosuppressant medication primarily utilized in the prophylaxis of organ rejection following allogeneic kidney, heart, or liver transplantation. Its mechanism of action involves the selective, non-competitive, and reversible inhibition of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH), a key enzyme in the de novo synthesis pathway of guanosine nucleotides. Lymphocytes, particularly B and T cells, are highly dependent on this pathway for their proliferation, unlike other cell types which can utilize salvage pathways. By inhibiting IMPDH, Immutil S effectively depletes guanosine nucleotides within lymphocytes, thereby arresting their proliferation and suppressing the cellular and humoral immune responses that are responsible for graft rejection. This targeted immunosuppression helps to prevent the recipient's immune system from attacking and damaging the transplanted organ. It is typically administered as part of a multi-drug immunosuppressive regimen, often in combination with corticosteroids and calcineurin inhibitors, to achieve optimal immune suppression while minimizing the overall toxicity and side effects associated with high doses of individual agents, thereby enhancing long-term graft survival and patient quality of life.
