About

Myfortic 180mg Tablet contains Mycophenolate sodium as its active ingredient and is classified as an inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) inhibitor. It is an immunosuppressive medication used to prevent organ rejection in patients who have undergone kidney, heart, or liver transplantation. Myfortic is typically prescribed in combination with other immunosuppressive agents as part of a comprehensive therapy plan.

This medication is strictly contraindicated during pregnancy due to its high risk of causing birth defects and miscarriage. It should only be used in pregnant women when no safer alternatives are available and the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception while taking Myfortic to prevent pregnancy.

Live vaccines are not recommended during treatment with Myfortic 180mg, as the immune suppression may reduce vaccine effectiveness and increase the risk of infection. Patients are also advised not to donate blood during treatment and for at least six weeks after stopping the medication to ensure it has cleared from the body.

You should not take this medication if you are allergic to Mycophenolate sodium or any of its components. Inform your doctor if you have a history of liver or heart disease before beginning treatment. Because this drug suppresses the immune system, it may increase the risk of skin cancer. Therefore, patients should take appropriate precautions to avoid excessive exposure to sunlight and UV radiation.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience symptoms such as unexplained bruising, persistent fever, fatigue, dizziness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, vision changes, reduced urine output, or seizures. As Myfortic may affect the developing immune system of a nursing infant, it is not recommended during breastfeeding.
