About
LOSAKIND H TAB is a combination medication formulated to treat essential hypertension, comprising Losartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ), a thiazide diuretic. Losartan works by selectively blocking the AT1 receptor, thereby inhibiting the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting actions of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide complements this action by increasing the excretion of sodium and water by the kidneys, which reduces blood volume and further lowers blood pressure. The synergistic effect of these two agents provides more robust and effective blood pressure control compared to monotherapy, making it particularly useful for patients who require additional blood pressure reduction or who experience fluid retention. This combination helps to achieve target blood pressure levels and reduce cardiovascular risk.
