About

SEVIX 800 contains Levetiracetam 800mg, an anti-epileptic drug (AED) used in the treatment of various types of seizures. Its precise mechanism of action is not fully understood but is believed to involve binding to the synaptic vesicle protein 2A (SV2A) in the brain, which modulates neurotransmitter release and helps to stabilize neuronal hyperexcitability. This action reduces the likelihood of seizure generation and propagation without affecting normal neuronal excitability. Levetiracetam is effective as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures, myoclonic seizures in juvenile myoclonic epilepsy, and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures. It is characterized by a favorable pharmacokinetic profile, including minimal protein binding and renal excretion, which reduces the potential for drug-drug interactions compared to many other AEDs. It is a widely used and generally well-tolerated option for seizure control.

  • Treatment of partial-onset seizures
  • Adjunctive therapy for myoclonic seizures
  • Adjunctive therapy for primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures
