Silodosin is an alpha-1A adrenergic receptor antagonist that selectively relaxes the smooth muscles in the prostate, bladder neck, and urethra, thereby improving urine flow and relieving obstructive symptoms. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that reduces the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone responsible for prostate growth.
