About
Velpanat tablet contains the active ingredients Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir and is used to treat chronic hepatitis C, a liver infection caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). This treatment typically has a shorter duration compared to older therapies, though the length of treatment may vary based on factors such as the HCV genotype, previous treatments, and whether liver cirrhosis is present. Successful treatment with Velpanat can greatly reduce liver inflammation and fibrosis caused by HCV. By eliminating the virus, it significantly lowers the risk of developing liver cirrhosis, liver failure, and hepatocellular carcinoma (a type of liver cancer).
If you are allergic or hypersensitive to Velpanat or any of its components, you should avoid using this medication. The safety and effectiveness of the Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir combination have not been established in children under 18 years old, and its use in this age group is limited. In such cases, alternative treatments or dosage adjustments are recommended.
