About

VILDAPRIDE 50 contains Vildagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by enhancing the body's own ability to control blood glucose levels. Vildagliptin increases the levels of active incretin hormones, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), which in turn stimulate insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and suppress glucagon secretion from alpha cells, particularly in a glucose-dependent manner. This leads to improved fasting and post-prandial glucose control without directly stimulating insulin release, thereby reducing the risk of hypoglycemia when used as monotherapy.
