VILPOWER 50 TAB contains Vildagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Vildagliptin works by enhancing the body's natural ability to control blood glucose levels. It achieves this by increasing the levels of active incretin hormones, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), which are released in response to food. These hormones stimulate insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and suppress glucagon secretion from alpha cells, both in a glucose-dependent manner. This leads to improved glycemic control by reducing both fasting and postprandial glucose concentrations.
