About

Acoxal 50mg Injection contains Oxaliplatin, a platinum-based antineoplastic agent belonging to the alkylating class of chemotherapy drugs. It exerts its cytotoxic effects by forming DNA adducts, which are bulky lesions that interfere with DNA replication and transcription. This disruption ultimately leads to cell cycle arrest and programmed cell death (apoptosis) in rapidly dividing cancer cells. Oxaliplatin is particularly effective in the treatment of colorectal cancer, where it is often used in combination with fluoropyrimidines like 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin as part of regimens such as FOLFOX. Its distinct mechanism of action and demonstrated efficacy against certain platinum-resistant tumors make it a crucial component in various chemotherapy protocols for gastrointestinal malignancies. The drug is administered intravenously under strict medical supervision.
