About

This medication is a fixed-dose combination therapy indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension, integrating Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, with Losartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). Amlodipine primarily acts by relaxing the smooth muscles in the walls of blood vessels, leading to peripheral vasodilation and a subsequent reduction in blood pressure. Losartan selectively blocks the binding of angiotensin II to its AT1 receptors, thereby inhibiting the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, which also contributes to blood pressure reduction.
