About

IMAT is a potent and selective tyrosine kinase inhibitor that targets several key enzymes involved in the pathogenesis of various cancers. Its primary mechanism of action involves inhibiting the Bcr-Abl tyrosine kinase, which is characteristic of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL). By binding to the ATP-binding site of Bcr-Abl, IMAT prevents the phosphorylation of downstream proteins, thereby blocking the signaling pathways that drive uncontrolled cell proliferation and survival in these leukemias. It also inhibits other receptor tyrosine kinases, including KIT and PDGF-R, making it effective in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) and certain myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative diseases.

This targeted therapy has revolutionized the treatment of CML, transforming a previously fatal disease into a manageable chronic condition for many patients. IMAT works by specifically interfering with the molecular abnormalities that cause these cancers, while largely sparing healthy cells. Its oral administration and high efficacy have made it a cornerstone of treatment for these specific malignancies, significantly improving patient outcomes and quality of life. Regular monitoring is essential to manage potential side effects and ensure optimal therapeutic response.

Uses

  • Treatment of Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).
  • Treatment of Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL).
  • Treatment of unresectable and/or metastatic gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST).
  • Treatment of myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative diseases associated with PDGF-R gene rearrangements.

Directions For Use

Take orally with a meal and a large glass of water to minimize gastrointestinal irritation. Do not crush or cut tablets.
