About

Olymprix 20 contains Teneligliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. This medication works by enhancing the body's natural ability to control blood glucose levels. It achieves this by inhibiting the enzyme DPP-4, which is responsible for the degradation of incretin hormones, GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide). By preserving these incretin hormones, Teneligliptin promotes glucose-dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and suppresses glucagon secretion from alpha cells, leading to a reduction in both fasting and post-prandial blood glucose concentrations.

Teneligliptin is typically prescribed as an adjunct to diet and exercise when these measures alone are insufficient to achieve adequate glycemic control. It can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents, such as Metformin, sulfonylureas, or thiazolidinediones. Its mechanism of action offers effective blood sugar lowering with a low risk of hypoglycemia when used alone, making it a valuable option in the comprehensive management of type 2 diabetes.
