About

Rituxem 500mg Injection contains rituximab as its active ingredient and is used to treat various conditions in adults. It may be given alone or with other medications to treat non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (a cancer affecting B-lymphocytes) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (a common type of B-cell cancer). It is also prescribed in combination with methotrexate for moderate-to-severe rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the joints. Other approved uses include granulomatosis with polyangiitis and microscopic polyangiitis—both conditions involving inflammation of blood vessels primarily affecting the lungs and kidneys—in adults and children aged 2 years and older. Rituxem is also used to manage moderate to severe pemphigus vulgaris, an autoimmune disorder causing painful blisters on the skin and mucous membranes of the mouth, throat, nose, and genitals.

Rituxem 500mg Injection belongs to the class of medications known as anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies. Do not use this injection if you are allergic to rituximab or any of its ingredients, have a weakened immune system, or have a serious active infection. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have heart disease, heart failure, or respiratory problems. Also, discuss any history of hepatitis B infection with your doctor, as the virus may reactivate during treatment and cause serious complications. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are not recommended while using this medication.

Common side effects of Rituxem 500mg Injection include blood infections, decreased red blood cells, dizziness, swelling of the face and body, itchy skin, diarrhea, increased sweating, and fluctuations in blood pressure. If you are able to become pregnant, use effective contraception during treatment and for 12 months after the last dose. This medication can cause severe infusion reactions during or within 24 hours after administration. Contact your doctor or healthcare provider immediately if you experience symptoms such as high blood pressure, chest pain, headache, difficulty breathing, vomiting, skin rash, or throat swelling.
