About

Telsig AM is a combination medication prescribed for the management of essential hypertension. It combines Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), with Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB). Telmisartan works by selectively blocking the AT1 receptor, preventing the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, thereby lowering blood pressure and reducing cardiac workload. Amlodipine acts by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and myocardial cells, leading to peripheral arterial vasodilation and a reduction in peripheral vascular resistance. This synergistic action provides a comprehensive approach to blood pressure control, particularly beneficial for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy. The combination helps to achieve sustained blood pressure reduction and improve cardiovascular outcomes.

Uses

  • Treatment of essential hypertension.
  • Management of high blood pressure in patients unresponsive to monotherapy.
  • Reduction of cardiovascular risk in hypertensive individuals.
  • Prevention of angina pectoris (due to Amlodipine component).
