About

TRIPRIDE 2MG TAB contains glimepiride, a third-generation sulfonylurea oral hypoglycemic agent. It primarily acts by stimulating the release of insulin from the beta cells of the pancreatic islets, a process that is dependent on the presence of functioning beta cells. Beyond its direct effect on insulin secretion, glimepiride also enhances the sensitivity of peripheral tissues to insulin and decreases hepatic glucose production, contributing to its overall efficacy in lowering blood glucose. This medication is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, particularly when diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone are insufficient to achieve adequate glycemic control. It helps in achieving and maintaining target blood sugar levels.

Uses

  • Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
  • As an adjunct to diet and exercise.
  • Monotherapy for glycemic control.
  • In combination with other antidiabetic agents.

Directions For Use

Take orally once daily, preferably with breakfast or the first main meal of the day. Follow your doctor's prescribed dosage and schedule.

  • Breastfeeding - Not advised as glimepiride may pass into breast milk and cause hypoglycemia in the infant.
  • Liver - Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment; dose adjustment may be necessary due to altered metabolism.
  • Kidney - Use with caution in patients with renal impairment; dose adjustment is required due to reduced excretion.
  • Lung - No specific direct lung contraindication, but severe pulmonary disease may indirectly affect glucose metabolism.
