About
VILDAPRIDE M-500 TAB is a combination medication used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus. It contains Vildagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, and Metformin, a biguanide. Vildagliptin works by enhancing the body's own ability to control blood glucose levels by increasing the active levels of incretin hormones, which stimulate insulin release and suppress glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal glucose absorption, and improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues. This dual mechanism of action provides comprehensive glycemic control, targeting multiple pathways involved in glucose dysregulation in type 2 diabetes, leading to improved fasting and post-prandial blood sugar levels.
Uses
- Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
- As an adjunct to diet and exercise.
- When monotherapy with Metformin or Vildagliptin is insufficient.
- To improve glycemic control in adults.
