About

VILDATIN-50 TAB contains Vildagliptin, a Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, used in the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Vildagliptin works by selectively inhibiting the enzyme DPP-4, which is responsible for the degradation of incretin hormones, Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) and Glucose-dependent Insulinotropic Polypeptide (GIP). By preserving these hormones, Vildagliptin enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and suppresses glucagon secretion from pancreatic alpha cells. This leads to improved fasting and post-prandial blood glucose levels. VILDATIN-50 is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with Type 2 Diabetes, either as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents. It offers effective blood sugar lowering with a low risk of hypoglycemia when used alone or with metformin, and is generally weight-neutral, making it a favorable option for many patients.
