About
Hemlibra 105mg Injection contains emicizumab, a bispecific factor IXa- and factor X-directed antibody. It is designed to bridge activated factor IX and factor X, thereby restoring the function of missing activated factor VIII, which is essential for effective blood coagulation. This medication is indicated for routine prophylaxis to prevent or reduce the frequency of bleeding episodes in patients with hemophilia A (congenital factor VIII deficiency) with or without factor VIII inhibitors.
Emicizumab provides a novel therapeutic approach for hemophilia A, offering subcutaneous administration and a prolonged half-life, which allows for less frequent dosing compared to traditional factor VIII replacement therapies. Its mechanism of action bypasses the need for factor VIII, making it effective even in patients who have developed inhibitors against factor VIII.
