About

Neoctide 100mcg Injection contains the active ingredient octreotide, a synthetic form of somatostatin — a natural substance in the body that blocks the action of certain hormones, including growth hormone. It is used to lower the excess production of growth hormone in people with acromegaly (a condition that causes enlargement of hands, feet, and facial features, along with joint pain and other symptoms) when surgery, radiation, or other medicines are not suitable or effective.

This injection is also prescribed to manage diarrhea and flushing caused by carcinoid tumors (slow-growing tumors that release natural substances) and VIPomas (rare pancreatic tumors that produce vasoactive intestinal peptide). Additionally, it is used to prevent complications after pancreatic surgery, stop bleeding, and reduce the risk of re-bleeding from ruptured gastro-esophageal varices in patients with chronic liver disease. It may also be given to treat patients with pituitary tumors that produce too much thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), particularly when surgery or radiotherapy is not suitable or has failed, and as a temporary measure while waiting for radiotherapy to take full effect.

Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to octreotide or any of its ingredients. Inform your doctor if you have a history of gallstones, blood sugar problems (high or low), vitamin B12 deficiency, or liver disease. Since Neoctide may lower your heart rate, and higher doses can sometimes lead to abnormal heart rhythms, your doctor may monitor your heart function during treatment. Always inform your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before starting this medication.
