About

Novorapid 30/70 FlexPen contains Biphasic Insulin Aspart, a pre-mixed insulin analog consisting of 30% soluble insulin aspart (rapid-acting) and 70% protamine-crystallized insulin aspart (intermediate-acting). This formulation is designed to provide both a rapid onset of action to control post-meal glucose excursions and a prolonged effect to cover basal insulin requirements. It is indicated for the treatment of diabetes mellitus in adults, adolescents, and children aged 10 years and above who require insulin to maintain adequate glycemic control. The rapid-acting component starts working quickly, typically within 10-20 minutes, while the intermediate-acting component provides coverage for several hours. This combination helps to simplify insulin regimens by addressing both prandial and basal needs with fewer daily injections. Consistent blood glucose monitoring and adherence to administration timing relative to meals are crucial for optimal therapeutic outcomes and to minimize the risk of hypoglycemia.

Uses

  • Treatment of type 1 diabetes.
