About

Oxra tablets contain Dapagliflozin, a highly selective sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. This medication is primarily used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control, but its benefits extend significantly beyond blood sugar regulation. Dapagliflozin works by inhibiting SGLT2 in the renal tubules, which is responsible for reabsorbing glucose back into the bloodstream. By blocking this transporter, it promotes the excretion of excess glucose in the urine, thereby lowering blood glucose levels independently of insulin. Furthermore, this mechanism leads to osmotic diuresis, contributing to modest weight loss and blood pressure reduction. Importantly, Dapagliflozin has demonstrated significant cardiovascular and renal protective effects, reducing the risk of hospitalization for heart failure and slowing the progression of chronic kidney disease in a broad range of patients.
