About

Romy 500mcg Injection is a platelet-stimulating agent that contains the active ingredient Romiplostim. It is used to treat immune primary thrombocytopenia (ITP), a condition where the immune system mistakenly destroys the body’s own platelets, resulting in a low platelet count. This medication is typically prescribed for adults and children aged 18 years and older when other treatments—such as corticosteroids, immunoglobulins, or splenectomy (removal of the spleen)—have not been successful in raising platelet levels.

Romy 500mcg Injection is contraindicated in individuals who are allergic to Romiplostim or to any medications derived from DNA technology using the bacterium Escherichia coli (E. coli). Before beginning treatment, it is important to inform your healthcare provider if you have any liver disorders, a history of cancer or recent surgery, if you smoke, or if you are using hormonal birth control. These factors can affect how the medication works and may require your doctor to adjust your treatment accordingly.

During treatment, your doctor will conduct regular blood tests to monitor for any abnormalities, particularly those that may indicate changes in bone marrow. Since this medication has been linked to serious bone marrow alterations, any abnormal results will be closely evaluated, and your doctor may decide to continue or discontinue the treatment based on the findings.

Romy 500mcg Injection is not recommended during pregnancy unless clearly advised by your doctor. If you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or think you might be pregnant, it is important to discuss this with your physician before starting treatment. As it is not known whether the drug passes into breast milk, breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment.
